Dear Wine Lover,
We have just discovered a new hidden gem from Chile. Coming from Montes, Purple Angel 2014 is one of those wines that keep popping up on the radar. This 2014 vintage recieved an incredible 98 points from James Suckling, making it higher rated than the international reknown wines - Almaviva 2014 and Seña 2014 which both scored only 97 points. Available for only CHF 48.00 + VAT, Purple Angel is less than half price of these two big names.
Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray founded Montes in 1987. Together, with the skills and expertise of Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, they reached their goal to become one of the greatest Chilean producers of all time. Montes also led the way to quality, by planting vineyards on steep hillsides and using the newest technologies. In 2004 they built their Apalata winery.
Among their collection of top wines, we chose their Purple Angel for this special offer. This superb wine represents a whole new dimension for Carmenère, the long-lost grape variety that recently resurfaced in Chile after being presumed extinct in Bordeaux. In Chile, it is now considered a traditional variety, but you can call it a Jurassic Park grape that returned from the past. Completed with a touch of Petit Verdot, it will delight you by its complexity and exotic aromas.

James Suckling 98 points: This has a perfect nose of blackberry, tar, black pepper, thyme, cloves and rose petal. Full body and firm and very silky and polished tannins. The finish goes on for minutes. Best ever. Great class. 92% carmenere and 8% petit verdot. Drink in 2019 but so gorgeous now.
