Dear Wine Lover,
A great Sancerre and outstanding in terms of concentration, precision and expression is what Robert Parkers Wine Advocate writes when talking about the Wines of Alphonse Mellot awarding this Sancerre Blanc Les Romains 2014 with incredible 95 Points, the highest rating for this wine ever given by Robert Parker.
Alphonse Mellot is one of the most historical producers in the Loire region. The beginnings date all the way back to the XIXth century, when Alphonse Mellot decided to found a tavern in Sancerre where one could savour the local wines. With this step, a flourishing trade began
and in 1881, he was granted a licence to ship his wine throughout France and all over the world. Today, this century old winemaking tradition is perpetuated by Alphonse Mellot, father and son, the 18th and 19th to bear the name.
The vineyards exceptional quality have pushed the region to be officially classified as a unique category among Sancerre wines. The vines are ideally exposed on the south-western tip of Sancerre, the chalk soils and its specific sub-soil make for perfect conditions to grow the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Nowadays it represents maybe the most renowned Sancerre proven by the fantastic 95 Points rating by Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
This Sancerre is an absolute must have for white wines lovers, if you are searching for a fine, quality wine this is definitely the one! We are glad to offer this wine at very attractive conditions, which you should absolutely not miss! Trust me!

300.0 cl Sancerre Blanc Les Romains - Alphonse Mellot - 2014 CHF 200.00 (CHF 215.40 incl. VAT)Robert Parker "95" Points: The 2014 Sancerre les Romains reflects the combination of flint on limestone soils in a 1.2-hectare plot with vines averaging 65 years of age. The wine opens extremely pure and clear on the nose, with tea and floral aromas intertwined with white fruit and lemon flavors. On the palate, this is a very pure, fresh and firmly structured Sancerre provided with great precision, tension and length. There is almost no fruit in this bare wine, at least no charm, but it does have purity, austerity, tension and lots of complexity. A great Sancerre!_Alphonse Mellot junior, 19th generation of the flagship domaine in Sancerre, has 53 biodynamically farmed hectares of vines and offers a range of remarkably clear, elegant and polished single vineyard Sancerres. Several of theseEdmond, Les Romains and Generation Dix-Neufare outstanding in terms of their concentration, precision and expression. I have spread my scores this year a bit wider, because I really felt differences in complexity between the wines, rather than just style differences. Pinot Noir freaks should taste the 2014 Les Herses.
